COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The online Local Development Community of Practice (CoP) was formed in 2012 and nowadays is a well-known DLG sector-specific on-line resource among local authorities’ representatives, community leaders from all over Ukraine, with more than 9 000 participants who share a common purpose:

• 
  problem solving in local development;

• knowledge creation and sharing in local self-government;

• best practice in project management;

• innovation in economic growth. 
  

The Community of Practice builds on the experience of a series of e-courses that had been carried out jointly with the higher educational institutions, local self-governance associations, regional training centres for different audiences which led to establishing a core group of the activists of the CoP that is functioning in the on-line format and is open to everyone to join anytime.

The e-courses offered in the Community are open to its members using knowledge management tools and IT solutions. The most popular e-course that is being hosted on a yearly basis, in autumn, is the “Project Management for Local Development”. More info is available HERE 

The CoP currently operates as a two-folded knowledge management system:

    tutored e-courses and self-study modules, and

    knowledge and information management services (as a place for internal group discussions, e-library, and media digest). 

Today the CoP brings together all stakeholders in local development, and has become a space for translating knowledge into actionable learning, building capacity to implement change and scaling up innovative solutions.
