VI Annual Conference of Small Towns of Ukraine This year the event was devoted to “Resource and Information-Analytical Support Provided to Small Towns’ Mayors and Local Self-Governance Bodies”

On 6 to 7 July 2011 VI Annual Conference of Small Towns of Ukraine took place. This year the event was devoted to “Resource and Information-Analytical Support Provided to Small Towns’ Mayors and Local Self-Governance Bodies”.

Town and village heads from all regions of Ukraine, representatives of central executive power, foundations and programs of international technical support, academics and public activists took part in it.

Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” was represented by Oksana Garnets, Senior Project Coordinator in Ukraine, Anatoly Chemerys, Head of Project Expert Team and Olena Sas, Project PR Specialist.

In his speech, Anatoly Chemerys informed the Conference on DESPRO activities and progress in the sphere of knowledge management, including publications, participation in developing training programs, designing the web-portal, etc.

Besides, briefing for media took place. During the briefing, Conference’s organizers as well as representatives of several Ministries, State Treasury and international partners answered the reporters’ questions.

According to Mr. P. Kozyryev, Head of Association of Small Towns of Ukraine, words, the Conference will result in new successful practices in the sphere of inter-municipal horizontal cooperation as well as application of advanced knowledge and experience in towns’ governing.
