Distance learning and knowledge management

eLearning and Knowledge Management Workshop was held on 15-18 August in Kamyanets-Podilskyi. It was organized by the Swiss-Ukrainian Decentralization Support to Ukraine Project (DESPRO) for faculty members who teach educational subjects in the area of "Public Administration". The goal of the Workshop was to improve the participants’ skills in developing training modules in eLearning format, testing and further implementation of the developed modules in the learning process.

During the Workshop, the participants learned about MOODLE software platform, developed a template and design of their training module, discussed best practices of eLearning implementation in the education service, peculiarities of eLearning organization, as well as methods and means of educational process management. The overall idea and some services of the Knowledge Management portal - a joint project of the National Academy of Public Administration and DESPRO - were presented to the participants, the issue of the portal promotion and involvement of other stakeholders in its development was discussed.
The workshop brought together 15 faculty members from various higher educational institutions of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk Regional Institute of Public Administration, Lviv Regional Institute of Public Administration, Odessa Regional Institute of Public Administration, East-Ukrainian National University, Zaporizhzhya National University). The participants who worked mainly in groups developed different modules. In particular, during the Workshop they developed, presented and discussed the ideas of training modules for eLearning format in the following subjects: Innovation Policy, Project Management, Strategic Planning, Humanitarian and Cultural Policy, Territorial Management, and Change Management.
Ihor Katernyak (Director of NGO "Ukrainian Distance Learning System", expert on developing strategies for implementing eLearning in the education process in the framework of international projects of the World Bank, European Union programs, as well as Ukrainian, US and Swedish universities) and Viktoriya Loboda (expert in eLearning and on supporting educational process in the online environment, providing communication between teachers and students of e-courses and programs) worked as experts during the Workshop.
The Workshop participants will further test the developed modules in their classrooms and will use them in their teaching practice, also via the eLearning platform located on the DESPRO Project web-site.
