Round Table “Territorial Communities’ Social Activities as a Factor of Effective Regional Development” Took Place in Crimea

Which are the ways of solving local challenges and attracting resources for regional development due to strengthening the population’s capacities? How to do it? Which are the expected results?   These and a number of other issues became the subject of a round table, which took place on 27th September in Simpheropol and was initiated by Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO).

The event was especially important because of the 2nd Chornomorsky Economic Forum aimed at enhancing AR Crimea leadership positions as for the attracting of foreign investments among other Ukrainian regions.  
 
Mrs. Olga Kryvenko, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of AR Crimea told about the cooperation between local executive and legislative bodies and international donor agencies. The speaker also illustrated the experience re collaboration between local power and territorial communities.  
 
During the round table, the competition “Uniting the Community!” was presented. It demonstrated the practical experience on self-organization and effective solution of rural communities’ challenges in the region.
 
Competition’s duration is June through November 2011. It covers regional mass media of Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy Oblasts and AR Crimea. The winners will get gifts, the main of which would be the Study Tour to Switzerland.
 
Renart Saranayev, Head of CO “Makhuldyur”, told about the community project “Ethnical and Cultural Center”, being implemented in Velyka Uscheluna village, Bakhchysaraysky rayon, AR Crimea.
