On 12^th April 2012 Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO) conducted in Sumy the workshop for rural water-supply operators and specialists “Modern methods and technologies related to water-supply systems’ equipping and maintenance”.

Both theoretical (energy saving systems of autonomous settlements’ water-supply with the use of polymeric reservoirs, water towers and contemporary pump stations) and practical issues (identifying the required water performance intake) were covered during the workshop.

DESPRO experts presented the experience on operating water supply systems and general provisions related to water supply systems’ construction and commissioning.

Discussions on the selection of pumping equipment and maintenance of village sewerage were of most practical importance during the workshop.

Besides, best practices and examples related to technical solutions of rural water supply systems operating in DESPRO pilot regions were presented.

Representatives of Sumy Oblast service cooperatives who won the third DESPRO call for proposals as well as representatives of Sumy OSA and Sumy Oblast Council took part in the workshop.
