Decentralization and governance

On 24th April the workshop “Decentralization and Governance” aimed at presenting and discussing of the training modules for public servants and local self-government officials took place in Hotel Complex “Puscha Lisova” (Moschun village, Kyiv Oblast).
During the workshop organized by Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” and UNDP Project “Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Program” the experts and scientists discussed the complex of training modules “Decentralization and Governance”.
The complex of training modules was developed within 2011 – 2012 with financial support of Swiss Confederation. It is aimed at promoting decentralization and local self-governance development through strengthening institutional potential of local self-governing bodies as well as their capacity to fulfill new mandate obtained during the process of decentralization. Training materials cover such important issues as local self-governance and decentralization, local budgets, development of public policy and public projects management, social mobilization and sustainable local development, introducing the systems for managing the quality of administrative services, reforming the management systems dealing with settlements’ realty, etc.
About 40 participants, including the representatives of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, School of State Service Senior Corps, Association of Cities of Ukraine, Civil Society Institute, Centre for Political and Legal Reforms, Association Agencies for Regional Development, Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO) and UNDP Project “Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Program” got acquainted with authors’ presentations of training modules for public servants and local self-government officials and discussed the possibilities for their further implementation.
