DESPRO has visited “European town”

On 15th June 2012 the events devoted to sustainable economic development took place. DESPRO was highly interested by the audience and mass media. It was noted by a number of international projects took part in it.
Mrs. Maryna Bryl, DESPRO expert on national policy presented the project goals and objectives as well as project progress and outcomes: “We do appreciate that (and it is one of many project outcomes) decentralized model of services provision is widely used beyond the target project areas. Members of other communities heard about the neighbors’ success achieved due to social mobilization and attracting the local government resources and started to use the experience for the aim of improving the life quality”.
During the interview to one of TV channels Maryna Bryl stressed that DESPRO is working on all levels, starting from community and up to national one. Being piloted models and experience on improving the water supply quality is freely distributed all over Ukraine through numerous publications, training films and Internet. “The most important is the fact that DESPRO operational activity is aimed at supporting administrative and territorial reform in Ukraine, i.e. decentralization. Still, any changes within the country badly need people involvement, their awareness and participatory planning and support. These are the real people who are doing the changes”, she underlined.
“European town” is a joint project of European Union in Ukraine and Kyiv State Administration, which was implemented within Ukrainian –German partnership 2nd June through 1 July. The project took part by Arc of Friendship and presented new long-lasting, innovative and pretty different Europe as well as best practices related to 11 spheres of international cooperation. Another important project goal is to improve the image of Ukraine and Kyiv abroad.
