DESPRO has launched expert assistance in Dnipropetrovs’k Oblast

Information seminar “Decentralized model of rural water supply based on service cooperative” that took place on 3rd July in the premises of Dnipropetrovs’k Oblast Council became the assistance’s first step.   
During the seminar, rayons representatives, due to specific examples, became absolutely sure that in case of desire, persistence and proper organization, any rural community can be successful in different areas, even in such a difficult one as reconstruction of water supply system.
“Dnipropetrovs’k Oblast is open for cooperation, in particular, in areas related to activation and strengthening of territorial communities. We are looking forward systematic and fruitful cooperation with representatives of Swiss-Ukrainian project DESPRO because studying and implementation of progressive world experience in the sphere of local social and economic development is one of our main priorities”, said Yevhen Udod.
In the course of the seminar, DESPRO presented its best practices related to decentralized water supply model. Cooperation of DESPRO and Dnipropetrovs’k Oblast took place within the framework of Memorandum among Dnipropetrovs’k Oblast State Administration, Dnipropetrovs’k Oblast Council and Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO). The Parties have agreed to collaborate in the area of integration of effective decentralized models into local governance, which would serve for capacity building of civil servants and local self-governance officials in the sphere of planning and implementing of the projects on establishing and ensuring decentralized services.
“Oblast government is ready to involve internal and external intellectual and material resources as well as expert assistance, for our overall goal is the improvement of life quality of our population, starting from large industrial cities and up to small settlements”, stressed Yevhen Udod.
