Unique experience for Ukraine

Interagency project supporting the development of amalgamated local communities in Khmelnitsky region combines efforts of different actors - the local authorities, international partners and organizations of public sector. It is really unique and instructive pilot for Ukraine. Collaboration anf synergy are much more effective than debates.

Khmelnytsky region is undisputed leader in community amalgamation in Ukraine. The support of communities’ amalgamation process moved to a next stage – the capacity building and creation of possibilities for rapid development of these communities. 

In Khmelnytsky region Civil Society Institute from Kiev taking the lead launched unique project "Support to development of amalgamated local communities in Khmelnitsky region". Thу project unites interests and capabilities of many donors: the Swiss-Ukrainian Decentralisation Support to Ukraine Project DESPRO, the German Office for Cooperation GIZ, Swedish Project SKL international, International Foundation Renaissance, Council of Europe in Ukraine and the Support to Regional Development Project in Ukraine by EU. 

Experts involved in the Project have repeatedly visited the target region to support the development of comminities' budgets for 2016 and to prepare first session of the newly elected communities’ councils.

The training session for newly formed communities on new opportunities offered by the amalgamation and possibilities opened with newest Ukrainian legislation was conducted in Satanivska amalgamated community on February, 11-14, 2016.

Khmelnytsky region’s local authorities realize the importance of such training. For over two days Head of Khmelnytsky Regional Council Michail Zagorodny studied along with all participants. The project "Support to development of amalgamated local communities in Khmelnitsky region" continues its activities to strengthen the capacities of local self-government representatives on a base level.
