Journalists from Regions Met in the Capital City to Study, Share Experience, and Participate in a Conference

More than 30 journalists from regional mass media covering the decentralisation reforms took part in the training course on 18 April 2016 arranged for by the DESPRO Project in cooperation with the Institute of Civil Society within the framework of the Research and Training Conference "Development of Rural Territories in the Circumstances of Decentralisation: Condition, Possibilities and Challenges" to be held on the next day in Kyiv.
Mr. Anatolii Tkachuk, Director of the Institute of Civil Society, the ideologist of reform of the local self-government and the territorial structure of power in Ukraine, told the journalists about the development of the village in the circumstances of decentralisation, the myths related to the reforms, and challenges still to be faced with.
A well-known journalist, TV presenter, and trainer Anna Bezulyk, and communications expert Volodymyr Kuznetsov shared their experience with the participants.
The participants were afforded an opportunity to share their own experience with the colleagues by presenting their journalistic works on the subject of reforms during the practical part - at the "New Ideas Working Shop".
One of the practical tasks was devoted to the preparation of the Decentralisation Glossary for media personnel - a publication that will contain key concepts of reforms and will be published and distributed amongst fellow employees all over Ukraine.


On the next day, 19 April, the journalists will visit the Research and Training Conference "Development of Rural Territories in the Circumstances of Decentralisation: Condition, Possibilities and Challenges" arranged for by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine in cooperation with the Institute of Civil Society, the DESPRO Swiss-Ukrainian Decentralisation Support Project in Ukraine, and the "Support to Ukraine's Regional Development Policy" European Union Project.
During the conference, it is planned to discuss the possibilities of development of rural territories, the ways to achieve success in the circumstances of decentralisation, and new approaches to the regional development in the country.
