"Our project is focused on several levels. It  the governmental level, that is, the national one, where we support decentralisation reforms. At the local level, we are engaged in practical matters, provide support to communities in resolving the most urgent issues - water supply and sanitation, and solid waste management. We suggest how the communities may act to improve the living conditions of its residents. So, we will focus on this. We will discuss how to correctly prepare projects, where to start from, and what is worth special attention. We will focus our attention on the matters of concern to the communities", Vyacheslav Kozak, the speaker at the workshop, said.

Within the framework of the event, the participants discussed practical aspects of preparing the strategy and programme of a drinking water supply system development and improvement.

"The DESPRO Swiss-Ukrainian Decentralisation Support Project in Ukraine helps to develop and implement water supply projects in the Poltava region for a number of years. Currently, the issue of water supply is pressing in all settlements of our Oblast. We want to teach the communities to prepare high-quality projects because there are problems in some Rayons (districts)", emphasised Director of the Department of Economic Development of the Oblast State Administration Inna Ishchenko.

Participants of the workshop provided their recommendations regarding the preparation of water supply projects to be financed by the State Fund for Regional Development. Also, the attendees shared their experience of implementation of rural drinking water supply projects.
