10 December 2009. Kyiv. The National Round Table on European Innovation Strategy and Local and Governance dedicated to the European Local Democracy week in Ukraine held in the Ministry of Regional development and Construction. Deputy Minister Anatoly Tkachuk presided the event.
Oksana Garnets – Senior Coordinator of the Decentralization Support Project in Ukraine (DESPRO) took part in the Round Table.  Ministry of Regional Development and Construction organized the Round Table in cooperation with European Council, Swiss Agency of Development and Cooperation, The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kiev,
Regional and local development research and development center, the Ukrainian Delegation of the Congress of local and regional authorities of Europe, National Associations of Local and Regional Authorities, NGO “Mayor’s Club”.
In his greeting speech the Deputy Minister Tkachuk  said that European strategy, being the core premise of the local self governance reform in Ukraine, is a very important step  in the local democracy development for a better ability of local authorities  to provide more effective and affordable public services.
Minister Vasyl Kuybida awarded Oksana Garnets with the  Charter of Honour for the tangible personal contribution to the local democracy development in Ukraine and for the fruitful cooperation between donor organizations and Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.
